Red Flag, 2020, Appalachian Trail, North Adams, Massachusetts

Red Flag, is a sculpture I made in North Adams Massachusetts. The art is made from timber and garbage I collected locally. The work is installed over the Hoosic River which flows through Northern Appalachia. My family comes from this small town, both my father and grandfather both worked in the now abandoned mills that line the banks of the river. My mothers family owned a small farm which provided just enough food to support themselves. I love making art outside, each place my practice takes me I find truly amazing. However, nothing warms my heart more than working in the Appalachian Mountains.
